The 3rd Ghana-EU Business Forum was held on May 20 and 21, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, under the theme “Deepening Ghana-EU Cooperation on Trade and Investment in Non-Traditional Value Chains under the EU Global Gateway Strategy.” This high-level event brought together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors of Ghana and the European Union to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
The forum was graced by the President of Ghana, H:E John Dramani Mahama, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of fostering a conducive environment for business growth. High-level panelists included Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; representatives from the EU Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Security; the CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC); the CEO of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI); and officials from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat.
Their collective insights underscored the shared commitment to strengthening economic ties between Ghana and the EU. The forum focused on three key sectors identified as having significant potential for collaboration: agribusiness, pharmaceuticals and vaccines, and renewable energy.
Discussions delved into strategies for modernizing Ghana’s agribusiness sector, enhancing local vaccine production capabilities, and expanding renewable energy initiatives. The EU’s Global Gateway strategy was highlighted as a pivotal framework for facilitating sustainable investments and fostering innovation within these sectors. Interactive sessions, including Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings, provided participants with opportunities to forge new partnerships and explore investment prospects. Exhibition booths showcased a diverse array of Ghanaian and European companies, offering insights into the latest products, services, and technological advancements.
These engagements were instrumental in bridging gaps between stakeholders and catalyzing collaborative efforts. In conclusion, the Forum served as a significant milestone in reinforcing the economic partnership between Ghana and the European Union. By aligning strategic objectives with the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, the forum laid a solid foundation for future collaborations aimed at sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
